No decisions are set in stone as everything has been very fluid, changing as the committee continues to discern, and receive comments/feedback from the community. The committee is progressing as if all 4 phases (Church renovation, Chapel, Office & Rectory renovation) can be accomplished. Final project scope will be based on cost estimates, donations, etc., this too could change.
Fr Michael shares his thoughts and ideas, but he is not actively involved with the day-to-day activities of the committee. The Capital Campaign Cabinet is striving to make this a Holy Spirit led project, seeking His guidance through prayer and discernment. From the survey results, it is evident that the majority of the parish is in favor of the proposed renovations and additions. All decisions will ultimately be made by the Campaign Cabinet, who represents the St. Mary’s community, and then formally approved by the Finance Council, Father Michael and the Diocese.
A project of this magnitude requires careful and extensive planning to best serve the community and avoid mistakes. Capital Campaign volunteers have been working diligently for over a year, some for several years, working towards this goal. It just takes time to listen to the community, put it all together, map out a plan, etc. We understand that the pace may feel slower than expected, and we share your desire to see our goals achieved as soon as possible. We’re committed to building a strong foundation—this means taking time to engage with parishioners, listen to feedback, and ensure that everyone understands the purpose and vision behind the campaign. Stewardship is not just about fundraising; it’s about growing together in faith and unity. We are being mindful and responsible with our planning. Financial commitments must be sustainable, and we must proceed in a way that reflects the values of our parish community. We’re encouraged by the generosity we've already seen and are actively working to maintain momentum. We truly believe that with continued prayer, communication, and shared commitment, we will reach our goals in due time.
Formal construction in the Church is planned after Easter 2026. There are very limited things in the Church that can be done prior to then, as don't want to "strip" it any earlier than necessary. The Parish offices, being in a new build and not attached to an existing structure, could possible be done sooner. No firm decision has been made.
Our current vision is the Church renovations, and the Chapel would be worked on simultaneously. Depending on timing and other factors, the office could be a separate build, while the Rectory's renovation will be last, after the office is moved into its new home.
Yes and no. Most items were well received by the Parish. The Campaign Committee reviewed the items that were not received well, like the Narthex, and have made the decision to not move forward with this part of the project. Once the architect has provided an initial estimate and the final scope is determined, the Capital Campaign Cabinet will provide a detailed scope of work to the Parish.
The Church's restroom has cement walls and cannot be made big enough to satisfy ADA requirements. However, it will be remodeled to be more functional. An ADA compliant restroom is planned for the Chapel.
